✱   Testimonials

Hear from our alumni.

Every summer, students and early-career journalists come to Prague and leave with more than they expected — published work, real responsibility, and a network that lasts. These are their stories, in their own words.

Working at Transitions was one of the most meaningful experiences of my early career. I learned so much about international reporting, solutions journalism, and the complexities of Central and Eastern Europe. I left TOL not only a stronger journalist, but with lifelong connections and a deeper sense of what journalism can do when it's rooted in integrity and impact.

Every track, a different story.

Editorial
I came in nervous about writing for a real audience and left with bylines I'm genuinely proud of. The editors treated me like a colleague, not an intern.

NGO Development
Drafting actual grant proposals — and seeing one get funded — taught me more about how non-profits really run than any class ever could.

Marketing
I owned real campaigns from idea to post. By the end of the summer I had a portfolio of work that actually reached people across Europe.

Business Development
Reporting directly to the director on the business plan was intimidating at first — then exhilarating. My research ended up in the real strategy.

Eight weeks in Prague changed how I see journalism. We reported across the region, and I came home with clips, friends, and a completely new perspective.
